Commitment and Leadership

On January 9, 2015 Dr Rani Whitfield was appointed to the Southern University system Board of Supervisors. He is a 1992 alumnus of Southern University and the first medical doctor to serve on the board. Dr Whitfield is very active and involved with the board. As a result of his commitment and leadership, he was elected to serve as Vice Chairman of the board in November of 2021 and re-elected again in 2023. Dr Whitfield is actively engaged with the students as well as the faculty, staff, and administration. High on his agenda as a board member is rebuilding the historic Southern University Laboratory School.
